Art Authenticity on the Blockchain

LTO Network and V-ID, together with ScanTrust, once again combine their strengths to validate Pim’s 15 most notable works to date. The works of Pim Volkers will be secured by using patented QR codes developed by ScanTrust. Once validated with V-ID, the works will be anchored on LTO Network’s blockchain to protect Pim’s intellectual property forever.

Using the QR codes and V-ID certificates, anyone would be able to validate their authenticity, further secured by the blockchain, a so-called decentralized notary of LTO Network.

ScanTrust QR codes which are attached to physical items.

This is similar to how LTO Network’s solution for NEN works, you can check it out here. The QR codes, as you see on the photo are protected against being replicated by “adding a secure graphic in the middle of the barcode, a graphic which is purposely designed to take advantage of natural degradations that occur in the printing process and lose a lot of information during each print”.

With the app, you can follow the simple steps and check it yourself! Friendly user experience allows the solution to become widespread for art authenticity,

Scanning the ScanTrust QR code attached to the photograph leads you to the V-ID certificate which is further anchored on LTO Network blockchain.

In recent years, blockchain has been mentioned often as a viable alternative to traditional IP protection methods, better suited for the needs of our increasingly digital society. This project serves as a great visually appealing example to stimulate further discussions and developments in that direction.

“We are expanding from targeting only tech-savvy system integrators and ISVs. Doing something so unique and relatable to potential real-world clients adds yet another strong use case to our list! We are proud to have both old and new partners choose LTO Network as the blockchain platform for its security and adaptability.”

Rick Schmitz, CEO of LTO Network

Next to photography, Pim is active as an Advisory Board member of the Smartparks Foundation, where he participates in various nature and wildlife conservation projects in East Africa. Pim Volkers has an exhibition of his latest work coming up in Amsterdam on November 24th in Amsterdam (11:00 – 17:00) at Keizersgracht 169 – come to see it in person!
